Bryan’s Journey with Heartlinks

The Diagnosis

Bryan’s journey began like any other child’s – happy and healthy. However, a sudden onset of symptoms led to a devastating diagnosis of Adrenoleukodystrophy, an incurable disease robbing him of muscle and brain function. Given only two years to live, Bryan and his family embarked on a tumultuous journey filled with uncertainties and heartache.

Despite the grim prognosis, Bryan defied the odds, celebrating his 19th birthday in 2023.

Bryan’s story underscores the critical need for pediatric palliative care – a need that many families, particularly those in low-income and diverse communities, may struggle to access.
