Individual Grief Counseling
Grief and bereavement are normal experiences following the loss of someone close. Grief is the highly personal response to loss; bereavement is the extended period of adjustment. Grieving often begins before an anticipated loss or may be delayed for a considerable time. Grief may appear as an emotional and/or physical distress requiring assistance and support. One-on-one counseling with a specialist trained in grief is available to those who don’t feel as comfortable in a group setting.
Family Support Services
Heartlinks staff and volunteers offer support for families of hospice patients. Heartlinks sends out a monthly newsletter regarding the grief process for 14 months following the death of a patient to help loved ones with timely information as they move through the grieving process.

Grief Support Groups
These groups provide a safe place to share one’s pain with others who are grieving. Within the groups, each person is encouraged to express feelings openly and to give and receive support. Groups meet through Benton and Yakima counties weekly and are open to anyone in the community grieving the loss of a loved one.
